Dehumbler for LinkedIn ("Dehumbler", "the extension") is a free Chrome extension made by Andy Howard in Newcastle, NSW, Australia. It hides LinkedIn posts that incorrectly say "humbled" or "humbling" (we call it humble-washing), while real humility still gets through.
The short version
Dehumbler doesn't collect, send, sell or share any of your data. Everything happens inside your own browser, on your own computer.
What the extension reads
When you have linkedin.com open, Dehumbler reads the text of the posts in your feed so it can decide whether a post is humble-washing. It also reads the poster's name so your "Never hide posts from…" list works. That happens in your browser, in memory, while the page is open. Post text and names are never stored and never leave your computer.
If your version of Chrome has Google's built-in on-device AI (Gemini Nano, part of Chrome), Dehumbler may ask it for a second opinion on borderline posts. That model runs on your device, so the post text still doesn't leave your computer. You can switch this off in the extension's popup.
What the extension stores
Dehumbler uses Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your computer to remember:
- your settings (on/off, collapse or remove, the on-device AI option)
- your "Never hide posts from…" list, if you add one
- counters of how many posts were hidden each day and in total (the last 60 days are kept)
- short one-way fingerprints of hidden posts (up to 3,000), so the same post isn't counted twice. These can't be turned back into the post text.
This information stays on your computer. It isn't synced to your Google account and it isn't sent to us or anyone else. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.
What the extension does not do
- No accounts, sign-ups or logins.
- No analytics, tracking, cookies, advertising or fingerprinting.
- No network requests of any kind. The extension doesn't contact any server, including ours.
- No remote code. Everything the extension runs is included in the package reviewed by Google.
- It doesn't post, like, comment, message or change anything on LinkedIn. It only hides posts from your own view, and "Show anyway" brings them straight back.
- It doesn't run on any website other than www.linkedin.com.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell, rent, share or transfer user data to anyone, because we don't have any. We don't use or transfer data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, and we don't use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
The use of information received from Chrome's APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
Dehumbler isn't directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Any change that started collecting data would need a new extension version and your consent first.
